Aptly named the Vanishing Island, this sandbar off Malilipot in Albay province in the Bicol region, is just a 30-minute boat ride from the province’s main Tabaco port, right in the middle of Lagonoy Gulf. The sandbar, depending on the tide timetable, usually shows itself at about 10am, exposing its marine residents like the star fish and shoal of clownfish. It’s a great playground for families with kids. At low tide, the gulf sometimes empties out. Your surroundings are nothing but the quaint neighboring villages in Malilipot, and on a clear day, you get a fantastic view of stunning Mt. Mayon. The sandbar is pristine with perfectly clear shallow waters. Read More: http://www.archipelago.com.ph/story/take-me-tothe-vanishing-island

Swimming, snorkeling, and island-hopping can be done in Vanishing Island. You can also have a picnic in one of the floating cottages there. Overnight stays in the island is, of course, not possible, but you can spend the night in nearby Pinamuntogan Island, or in mainland Tabaco.    Read More: https://www.celineism.com/2017/07/diy-guide-to-vanishing-island-albay.html

In the waters off the coast of Salvacion village in Malilipot town in Albay province hides a little piece of heaven.

As the tide recedes, a glistening sandbar, known in the town as “Vanishing Island,” appears under clusters of tents, sheds and floating cottages.

The crystal-clear water surrounding the sandbar teems with starfish and other marine species, attracting tourists to this spot that locals call “Wara-wara” (Bicol term for “disappearing”), since it only appears during low tide.  Read more: http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/787510/vanishing-island-draws-attention#ixzz5IXiUGIgm
