The Mango-Bamboo Festival is not just meant to be a festival or entertainment event. It was called Mango-Bamboo Festival because the two products have a greater chance to compete in the world market.

Finally in April 2001, a strategy to showcase the Mango-Bamboo Festival was launched. And this is now what people look forward to – the Mango-Bamboo Festival Street Dancing – the inherent love for fiestas of the Carlenans served as an inspiration to hold the opening salvo on the last Saturday of April 2001 when San Carlos City celebrates its annual city fiesta.

Municipality of San Carlos City Pangasinan is busy preparing for its Mango – Bamboo Festival –  their yearly town fiesta celebration to promote the two products (Mango and Bamboo) that are abundant in their town which has a greater chance to compete in the world market.

Residents of 86 villages in San Carlos City, Pangasinan took part in making a 100-square-meter mango pie, big enough to fill a gymnasium – which sets the world record for the Largest Mango Pie. This is a  festival promoting San Carlos City as major trading center of bamboo based products/furniture and best producer of “carabao” mangoes and other mango variety in the country.

San Carlos City is popular in bamboo industry, the city has its own bamboo market where produce from bamboo like nipa huts, baskets, lamp shades, furniture, cabinets, among others are on display and traded for three days, starting from Thursday to Saturday. Traders from other provinces come here to buy the produce and sell these to outside provinces. – asensopangasinan.com
