Ayagao Beach

Just recently, we discovered another strip of coarse off-white sand beach very near the city – Ayagao Beach known as Capiz’ best place located in Barangay Talon. It is a mere 20 minute leisurely ride from the city proper over well-paved roads (until the last 200 meters which is rough road already). The beach faces the Sibuyan Sea and offers a spectacular view of the sunset. Unfortunately, it has the seasonal problem of pesky jelly fish. Mabaay Island a.k.a. Martelinos

Mabaay White Beach Island in Ivisan is one of the several white sand of Capiz. Located at the western most part of Panay Island which is surrounded by the coastline & reef of Aklan & Sapian, Capiz. It is a small island where some visitors flocked during summer time and powdery white sand of the beach front. The crystal- clear water of this Island attracts many visitors per year and some fishes at the side part of Mabaay Island. This island can be reach by a motorized banca located LA/ Basiao Beach Resort ranging Php 300-500 which depends on number of person. I did not need to dive or snorkel to see the corals up close. I had to do was lower my camera from the banca and takes pictures of the coral. I love being in the beach with friends. You can bring your own foods for lunch by the beach. Atub Island

Atub is an islet located at Barangay Natividad. It could be seen from the shorelines of Poblacion and Bang-ogay and it is considered as a sanctuary of marine life. It could be reached through boat during high tide; however, its grandeur can be experienced fully if you walked from the beach front to the area during low tide in the afternoon. Casanayan Beach

Walk along the 3-kilometer shoreline of Casanayan Beach.

Also, when in the barrio of Casanayan, don’t miss checking out its famed mummy. It’s a woman’s dead body that was found intact and well-preserved after it was exhumed 10 years after her death. Maria Basañes died due to a heart attack at the age of 47 in 1829. Her embalming was said to supposedly last for only 3 days. The body is now brownish-black in color and stands inside a small coffin. Mantalinga Island

Nearby Mantalinga island which is a kilometer away from the shoreline of Baybay beach has been identified as an ideal diving spot for scuba divers and a perfect rotunda for sailboat (dilayag) and kayaking contests. Recently nicknamed “Good Luck Island” by tourism consultants, the place is believed to be a source of luck for local fisherfolk. Our final destination is Magatalihan Island. Characterized by its spectacular large rock formations welcoming its visitors, the island also consists of a white strip of pebbles and lush greeneries against a royal blue sky – a picturesque scene of an uninhibited island.

Another favorite is Buntod Beach which is located in Pan-ay, Capiz. It is about a kilometer long of powdery black sand, and one of the cleanest, jellyfish-free beaches in Capiz. It is approximately ten minutes by jeepneys, cars and tricycles from the town and accessible by speedboats or pumpboats from any point in Capiz.
