TOURIST DESTINATIONS
IN SAMAR

Samar is divided into three parts – Northern Samar, Western Samar and Eastern Samar. For purposes of clarity, Western Samar is simply referred to or called SAMAR.

Samar province is caught between mountain and sea. It is hilly, with mountain peaks and narrow strips of lowlands, which tend to lie in coastal peripheries or in the alluvial plains and deltas accompanying large rivers. It includes almost every kind of topography: mountains, forests, rivers, lakes, plains, coasts, and islands and is blessed with a lush rain forest harboring tropical flora and fauna, crossed by multiple navigable rivers, pocked by mysterious caverns and refreshing waterfalls. A tourist wanting something out of the ordinary may experience all these wonders of nature and still only be a few hours from civilization. http://www.tourism.gov.ph/SitePages/InteractiveSitesPage.aspx?siteID=47

The Philippines will never ran out of waterfalls. One might be famous today then new one will going to be discovered tomorrow. When I visited Lulugayan falls, I really don’t have any idea how it looks like because of 2 reasons. First, it wasn’t part of my prospects when I visited Samar and second, I just don’t know that it exists.

Lulugayan falls is located in the town of Calbiga Samar, it’s the same town where the biggest cave in the Philippines is. When I visited Calbiga, my one and only mission is to visit the cave. I knew that Samar have a lot of amazing waterfalls, I just didn’t know or I maybe not paying attention that there is one in Calbiga.  Read More:https://thehiddenjem.net/2016/05/30/calbiga-samars-gem-lulugayan-falls/

One of the most popular beaches in the Calbayog City area is located about 20 kilometers north and west of the city in Barangay Malajog. Locally, the beach is also known as Lo-oc Beach. Malajog Beach is a prime destination for those who enjoy the sand and sun. Malajog offers greyish sand (fine and volcanic in origin) clear blue waters, towering rock formations and no shortage of swaying palms. Whether you need a place for a birthday party or reunion, Malajog Beach is a great choice.

Malajog Beach offers daily rental accomodations such as cottages, and huts, covered picnic tables, and privately owned facilities for those large parties. Comfort rooms and showers available. Shaded areas for relaxation. Caretaker provided refreshments sold on site. Swimming, snorkeling, picnicing and relaxing with friends and family are the primary activities at Malajog. Come early, eat, swim and relax. Explore the shoreline rock formations and small caves. Stay around a little longer, and with just a little luck, enjoy a beautiful sunset.  Read More:http://calbayoginfo.com/attractions/majalog-beach/

Accessible in a 35-minute ride from Oquendo District, Calbayog City proper to Barangay Mawacat plus 25-minute walk along the foot trail lined with tall shady trees. It is a natural spoon-like formation which inclines more or less by about 45 degrees and stretches 50 meters long. Water flows along this giant cistern and from the top one can slide through the mossy lane to the cool inviting pool below.  Read More:http://almiratourism1.weebly.com/
