MUST-SEE DESTINATIONS
Let’s face it. If destinations have personalities, Nueva Ecija would be that stunning, mysterious, reflective, demure type who would want to be discovered but stands too quiet among the quaint corners of the Philippines. Given this, there exist a few people who would dare to get to know her, but once they do, they’ll fall in love with her all at once. She’s the best kept secret our country has to offer. She’s phenomenal.
So If you think that Nueva Ecija is just about “palayan” (rice fields), think again! The province has surprisingly picturesque lakes, brilliant turquoise waters of rivers, the best 50peso zipline, a very interesting hanging bridge best for adrenaline junkies, a series of stunning waterfalls, gorgeous limestones, and yes, I heard, thermal pools too! (That, we need to find out more soon)
Nueva Ecija is a landlocked province located in Central Luzon. It is also considered as the main rice growing province here in the country and that is why it is often referred to as “The Rice Granary of the Philippines.”
However, unknown to many, the beautiful Nueva Ecija holds one of the most stunning park our country has to offer. Read More: https://www.wheninmanila.com/unbelievable-travel-destinations-in-nueva-ecija-you-never-knew-existed/

These days, a lot of city folk want a taste of the laid-back provincial life. When life gets too hectic in the metro, just heading somewhere you can float on a bamboo raft, enjoy simple home-cooked meals and see stunning natural sights can be just what you need to re-energize for the work week ahead. One of the fastest-rising destinations to offer this kind of experience near Manila is Minalungao National Park in Nueva Ecija.
The word Minalungao was derived from the words Mina meaning mine and Lungao which is a local word for cave. It’s been a few years since photos of this destination started circulating on social media and has since become very popular with the weekend crowds. Locals say before the park was “discovered,” not a lot of tourists visited the province of Nueva Ecija. This natural sight put the once sleepy province on the map. The best time to visit to see the emerald green waters is around summer time. It rained before our visit, so we weren’t able to see the place in its full glory. Little people know this place we’ve just discovered in Burgos. We’re surprised to see this spot hiding behind the green hills welcoming us as we cross the hanging bridge, the big rocks that made our itchy feet even more excited, and the quiet and green atmosphere that’s nice for a selfie shot. Having uncovered and witnessed a hidden gem in this barrio is an achievement and that made this adventure a really good one. Located in the outskirts of the city, in the barrio Manicla,San Jose City, Nueva Ecija seven kilometers away from the Poblacion. The site has natural scenic beauty where once stood a forbidding forest, its quant existence enhanced only by the sound of cascading waterfalls inadvertently concealed behind its snarling tree branches and thick undergrowth.
