Panagtagbo Festival one of the most impressive festivals held just in the outskirts of Davao City and this side of the Mindanao island, The festival was held every 7th of March to celebrate the foundation of the city of Taguim, Davao Del Norte’s capital. As the name implies, panagtagbo stands for a gathering of the people of the city despite their diverse backgrounds and ethnic origins, and proceedings has it that the first set of municipal officials were unveiled in 1941. Pangapog Festival

Immerse yourself in the rich indigenous culture of the Sama as you join, every March, in this weeklong festival of thanksgiving to Magbabaya for a bountiful harvest and overflowing blessings. Buy your pickoff Samal Island’s best products at the Tabo sa Pangapog. Sweat in heat in various adventure-sports competitions like the triathlon, marathon, bangkarera, and many others. Dance to the beat of Sama dances in Sayaw-sayaw sa Dan, a local Mardi Gras at the culmination of the festival.
This year’s Pangapog Festival kicked off with “Panaw sa Kadini, Tanom sa Kadyawan”, a massive tree planting activity in several pre-identified sites, and was conducted in groups by various sectors in IGaCoS. The Festival formally opened with the Pangapog Rites. Presided by a ‘Balyan’ (priestess), the rite included offering back the farm tools to ‘Magbabaya’. This was followed by a “Misa-Pasalamat”, a Eucharistic celebration with some indigenous and ecumenical adaptations. These activities were held at the Freedom Park in Peñaplata where the “Pusaka sa Kaompoanan”, an exhibit of indigenous artifacts and photos of the Lumad elders and leaders were also displayed. Banana Festival

Banana Festival, held each March 18 to 19 in Baco, Oriental Mindoro, is a festival of the wealth of bananas. It features the distinctive assortments of banana like the Senorita, the Latundan, the Lacatan and the Saba. It also includes a banana cookfest and a “saba”- roused road moving rivalry and magnificence exhibition. Merriments agree with the town holiday held to pay tribute to the supporter, St. Joseph. The celebration highlights road moving and an agri exchange reasonable for feature Davao del Norte as a “banana nation”.

Under the scorching heat of the sun, summer celebration continued with the 5th Summer Sports Festival 2013 participated by the sports enthusiasts coming from the different parts of Davao Region which kicked off last May 17 at the city’s Rotary Park.
During the opening program, the induction and oath-taking ceremony of the new set of officers of the Tagum City Federation of Sports Association (TCFSA) was conducted. This year’s festival featured sports disciplines such as beach volleyball, table tennis, taekwondo, badminton, sepak takraw, chess, 6 men open volleyball, dart, softball, lawn tennis and mix martial arts. Flores de Tagumeño Festival

26 beautiful sagalas paraded in Tagum City’s major thoroughfares as part of the culminating activities of the 5th Flores de Tagumeño last May 25, 2013, which is a month-long activity that honors the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Santacruzan de Tagumeño is uniquely Tagumeño as different groups in the city joined forces in the revival of this tradition.
After the Holy Mass at the Parish of Christ the Eucharistic King, the 26 sagalas walked down the road with their respective escorts, each pair made royal and grand with their arcs adorned with varieties of flowers. These sagalas were dressed with gowns as designed by leading fashion designers based in Tagum City and Davao City.

Durian Festival

It is a festival celebrated during the month of September up to October that gathers the Durian Growers from the province of Davao del Norte and Compostela Valley and convene in the City of Tagum provide and offer the lowest rate of durian fruits for the consumers. Andaon Festival
A festival with a social cause, that makes “ Andaon Tu Dibabawon” a genuine celebration of culture and pride. Fighting the big monsters of commercialization, the Dibabawons finally decided to gear themselves with a cultural activity that would build their own identity and uphold their cultural beliefs.
The three-day celebration is filled with a display of indigenous dances, play of their musical instruments, narrations of their literature, execution of their games, and lots of food and wine preparation. There were a lot of drum beating, dancing and chanting to greet the guests and participants. Women and their children danced to the rhythm of their “agong” and “gimbal”.
Dibabawons also prepare sumptuous foods. Usually served on banana leaves, they scoop steamed rice using a plate from a basket. Their viand is a serving of three slices of boiled pork seasoned with salt and placed in a string of rattan with a knot at one end for easy distribution. The City of Tagum was again filled with songs and music as the Musikahan Festival 2015 surged with musical spectacle that truly proved the city’s claim as the “Music Capital of Mindanao”.
What was once a minor musical celebration is now considered as one of the country’s biggest music festival. It started as an annual venue to showcase Tagumeños talents in music but has morphed through the years into a musical event that celebrates the musical ingenuity not only of the Tagumeños but of Mindanao and the Filipino people as a whole.
Since 1999, Musikahan Festival has been the City’s signature festival aimed at showcasing the country’s love for music and the Filipino’s excellence in musical composition, performance and production. Since the creation of this well-loved music festival, it has attracted not only spectators from around the region but even guests and participating groups coming far from the Visayas and Luzon. It even went international when Tagum City was chosen to host the 3rd International Rondalla Festival in 2011 participated by different groups coming from Asia, Europe and the Americas. Yes, you read it right; Tagum City celebrates 15 festivals annually with Binuhat Festival as the most unique in the entire country and maybe with the rest of the world. That’s one festival for you every month with some months having two festivals being held. However, Binuhat Festival is one of a kind. The word “binuhat” means creation in English.
This festival is the only festival dedicated to the Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender Community (LGBT) in Mindanao. Thus, the city gains several plus points with regards to gender sensitivity.
The festival is a week-long celebration which is mainly participated by gays coming from different places in Mindanao. Who else will be there but the gay community as it is a celebration recognizing the role they play in modern society? Gone were the days when being gay is an object of ridicule and morality. Gone were days when gay people hid their true colors for fear of being ostracized. In this era of globalization where ideas cross borders easily, being gay is no longer an issue.

Ugmad Festival

Farmers and fisherfolks in the city are now in focus as this city’s local government formally opened its month-long Ugmad Festival last August 28 at the Rotary Park.
Anchored on the theme, “Uma Gamiton, Mag-uuma atong Dayegon,” UGMAD features various agriculture-related activities such as agri-trade fair, farmer’s market, durian trade fair, garden show, fish-catching competition, dog show and the best native lechon competition.
Aside from the competitions and trade fairs which will be mostly held at the Rotary Park, farmers will be undergoing series of fora and caucus, farming technical demonstrations and product presentations, among others. Kaimonan Festival

The word “kaimonan” literally translates to “gathering.” Kaimonan Festival is a gathering of the four dominant tribes in Tagum City, namely Mansaka, Mandaya, Kalagan and Dibabaon, to celebrate a bountiful harvest and to give thanks to their God known as “Magbabaya”. This celebration showcasing different rituals, tribals songs and dances such as Courtship “Pagkinarimay”, Wedding “Pagbaroy”, Birth “Pagka-otaw”, Abduction ” Pagkamang sang Utaw”, Rescue “Pagluwas, Pangapog “Offering” and War dance “Pagpangayaw”. Kaimonan Festival started in 2003, celebrated every 10th day of the month of October in accordance with the Republic Act 8371 known as IPRA (Indigenous Peoples Rights Act) Law. Another celebration of life, culture and traditions happened in Tagum City last month at Tagum Cultural and Trade Center wherein five (5) dominant tribes of Muslim Tagumenos shared their way of life, unique culture and tradition through Pakaradjan Festival.
Pakaradjan Festival showcases the cultural talents of the different Muslim tribes in Tagum City with a common goal, that is, to preserve, promote and celebrate the tradition of five dominant tribes in Tagum City namely the Ka’agan, Maranao, Maguindanao, Tausog and Iranon.
This year’s festival highlights the booth display, Azan and Quranic Reading, Singkil Dance and Kulintangan competitions where various competitors hailed from Davao City, Asuncion, Maco, Mabini and Pantukan. Indayog sa Tagum, Dance Congress Festival

This event is a gathering of dance performers, choreographers, directors and educators from all over Mindanao to celebrate the dance arts and culture ranging from traditional, folk to contemporary expressions and scenario. Halal Food Festival

The ARMM’s Department of Science and Technology, the lead agency in the Halal-Technical Working Group, will serve as over-all in-charge in the promotion of the region’s halal-related policies. The two-day event will feature food, apparel, fashion accessories, food-processing techniques, and other products and services that are halal-certified.
The festival will also provide entrepreneurs producing halal products new market opportunities. It will also “serve as a key focal point for education about the real halal practices, what it means and to improve business integrity through values perpetuated by truly halal role models,” a primer on the event noted.
Among of the highlights of the festival is the launching of Halal Ordinance of Davao City, the country’s first, and the Mindanao-wide Qur’an recital competition. The Halal Food Industry Development Plan is a major initiative for Mindanao under the 2004-2010 Medium Term Philippine Development Plan, which specifically provides that the ARMM shall be the country’s halal-production base.
