Lake Danum is Perfect for Camping and Picnic

To end our second day trip in Sagada, we went to Lake Danum to watch the sunset(and yes that’s the only reason why I went there. I am very fascinated with sunset for some reasons I don’t know why). Lake Danum is about 4kms away from Sagada Town. If you are used to running or long walks, it is possible to walk all the way from the town center to the Lake but we get there with the private van that we hired since it’s included in our itinerary.

Our driver dropped us off first at the Lake to have a photo. It is a small lake surrounded by pine trees and it has the most relaxing atmosphere I’ve ever felt. The place is also perfect for camping or picnic and serves as the jump-off point to Mt. Ampacao trek. Located in Sitio Patay, Lake Danum or Lake Banao (for those in Besao) is approximately 4 kilometers from Sagada Municipal Hall. With its grassy and tree shaded ground, it is a perfect place for camping and picnic. It also serves as a jumping-off point from a Mt. Ampacao trek. After the cold swim at Bokong Falls and a nice lunch at Kimchi, we rested for an hour at our lodging before we proceeded to our final destination of the tour – the Lake Danum.

The lake isn’t far from the town center, we made a stop there for 10 minutes or so. Lake Danum is a venue for camping events. All the while I thought we will be having our bonfire at the lake. But according to our guide, it’s no longer allowed to hold a bonfire there which I totally understand, to preserve the place.

It’s just a small lake, an accumulation of rain pour or perhaps a dawdling flow coming from a natural spring, nothing really special except for green grassy lawn where people could sit or boat paddling on the lake.
