Kalanggaman Island (or Calanggaman Island) in Palompon, Leyte, isn’t exactly a well-kept secret. Those in the so-called travel circle have known about this quiet, unassuming island for years. But for some reason, it had never really created that big a buzz the way destinations like Palaui, Caramoan or Calaguas have. And that may be a very good thing if that means not disturbing its almost untouched beauty.

Kalanggaman is 753m long, fringed with sparkling white sand that gets hugged by the turquoise waters that separate Cebu and Leyte. What sets this uninhabited island apart from the others is its long, long sandbar that stretches and sticks out to the sea. Kalanggaman Island is also dubbed as the most beautiful sandbar in the Philippines. It is currently the most popular tourist attraction in Leyte. It is a beautiful sandbar with crystal clear waters and powdery white sand. The sandbar itself will leave you in great awe but the picture-perfect view of the entire area will be jaw-dropping.

The beautiful Kalanggaman Island is located at Palompon, a province of Leyte an approximately 1 hour boat ride from Palompon mainland and around 3 hours bus ride from Tacloban City to Palompon.

This beautiful island is famous for its white powdery sand, crystal clear blue water, stunning corals, abundant marine life and the famous long sandbars stretching on both side of the island. It is dubbed as one if not the most beautiful sandbars in the Planet and one of the most beautiful island in the country.

The surrounding of the beach is really calm, safe and truly relaxing one of the reason is because the island is not always crowded.When you get here, you’ll feel like you’re a castaway in a beautiful way. Some tourist called it mini Boracay or the smaller version of Boracay because of stunning powdery white sand and crystal clear blue waters.
