“Gawahon” is a Hiligaynon word which means “overlooking.”
Concealed in the abundant greens of the eco-park are the magnificent waterfalls of Gawahon. There’s a boating lagoon where you can enjoy activities such as kayaking (Php50.00 per boat per hour) and paddle boating (Php100.00 per boat per hour). You can also soak the whole day at the pool (Php50.00 per person) or join the kids at the kiddie pool (Php30.00 per person).
For small groups, you can rent a cottage or picnic hut (Php300.00 per cottage) and a multi-purpose hall (Php1,000.00 per use) that can accomodate big groups. There are also rooms, villas and suites (Php1,200.00 to Php2,000.00 per day) for those who would like to stay overnight. Kipot Twin Falls lie amidst the hundreds of green trees. Separated by a giant piece of rock, the falls splits into two mirror images. The 220 steps of stairs wind into the side of a hill and finally ends on the foot of the falls. Rails were installed to aid the visitors for a more secure and less tiring hike. Cottages made out of organic materials occupy the sides of the stairs. A viewing deck on the upper part of the hill was designed for the physically-challenged individuals. The Vintage Glass Museum is another cool Museum that you should check out. It’s a small museum that has a large front garden filled with interesting sculptures. There’s also a waterfall running from the top to the bottom floor.
The owner of the museum is Tomiko Casiano, a former florist who worked in Beverly Hills, California. He was very happy to show us around his beautiful garden. Mr Casiano likes to take old scrap and wood to create organic and beautiful works of art. The museum grounds are full of his little sculptures.
Mr. Casiano collects a certain type of glassware known as “Carnival Glass.” This glass was popular in America during the 1910’s as it was cheap, colorful and looked like the expensive glass brands such as Tiffany glass.
These glassware were also commonly used as funfair or carnival prizes. People would win these cheap, inexpensive but beautiful glasses as prizes for winning traditional funfair games such as the ring toss or throwing a ball to knock over a stack of milk bottles.
