How to Get There
Iloilo as Point of Entry
A. By Air
Iloilo is one of the most accessible cities in the region if you want to go to Guimaras. The Sweetest Mango Island Province can be reached by plane on regular commercial international flights from Hong Kong and Singapore to the Iloilo International Airport in Cabatuan, Iloilo. Major cities in the Philippines such as Cebu, Manila, Puerto Princesa, Davao, General Santos and Cagayan De Oro have direct flights connected to Iloilo.
Direct domestic flights connect Iloilo to major cities in the Philippines including Manila, Cebu, Davao, General Santos, Puerto Princesa, and Cagayan de Oro depending on your airline of choice. Travel time by plane from Hong Kong takes normally 2 hours and 30 minutes, 3 hours and 30 minutes from Singapore, 1 hour from Manila, and 30 minutes from Cebu. Plane fare and fees vary depending on your schedule and airline of choice.
From Iloilo International Airport, two options:
(1) Ride a shuttle to SM City for P70.00, and from SM City, ride SM City Proper jeepney for P 7.00 going to Ortiz St. which is a few meters away from Ortiz Wharf (for those going to Jordan). For those going to Parola Wharf (Buenavista entry), ride a taxi for P 120.00.
(2) Ride a taxi for P 500.00 directly to either Ortiz Wharf or Parola Wharf.
B. By sea.
By direct ferry or fast craft, through the new Ferry and Port Terminal in La Paz District, side of the Iloilo River, is approximately 1.5 hours away from Bacolod. Travel time varies depending on the shipping company and vessel that operates the route but it should be 1 to 1.5 hours from Bacolod, 12 to 14 hours from Cebu, and up to 27 hours from Manila.
There are three shipping companies that offer fastcraft services from Iloilo to Bacolod and vice versa: Oceanjet, 2GO and Weesam Express. Fare rates run from P 400.00 to 700.00 depending on the class, duration and schedule of travel.
From Iloilo Port Terminal, two options:
(1) Ride Lapuz via PPA jeepney to be dropped by Ortiz St. for P 7.00
(2) Ride a taxi for about P 80.00 directly to either Ortiz Wharf or Parola Wharf
C. By land.
If you are from any point in Panay Island, through Mohon, Molo, Ungka or Tagbak Terminals, Iloilo is around 2 hours from Roxas City, 3 hours from Kalibo, Aklan, 2 hours from San Jose, Antique and 3 hours from Boracay.
From Iloilo to Guimaras
A. By sea
From Ortiz Wharf, take a pumpboat bound for Jordan Wharf in Brgy. Rizal, Jordan.
Or, from Parola Wharf, take a pumpboat bound for McArthur’s Wharf in Sto. Rosario, Buenavista
Regular fare is P 14.00 and P 12.00 for students and senior citizens. Travel time is 15 to 20 minutes.
If you bring a car or other large vehicles, alternative option is via roll-on roll-off (RORO) from Lapuz, Iloilo City to Port San Jose in Brgy. Hoskyn, Jordan.
