GRAND MARIAN PROCESSION

In honor of the Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a Grand Marian Procession is held every Sunday before the Feast of the Immaculate Conception in Intramuros, Manila.

This religious festival showcase in one grand procession eighty-three images and statues of the Blessed Mother that came from the different parts of the country and is being paraded throughout thoroughfares. Flower-decked carriages borne the Marian images along the procession. Catholic devout flood the streets of Intramuros in glimpse and awestruck of this grandeur procession.

Also highlighted in the event is the unique tradition and devotion of the Filipino masses towards the Christian faith – and Mary as the Blessed Mother of the Savior. It is an opportune time to witness the unique culture and religiosity of Filipinos. The festival begun way back the 1980s which was being participated since by Marian devout all over the country.

Usually, the parade starts at 4:00 p.m. from the Manila Cathedral to the streets of the walled city and took 3-4 hours to be finished. The Confradia de la Inmaculada Concepcion organize the yearly festival.

The annual procession of images of The Virgin Mary is held every 1st Sunday of December in Intramuros. This tradition was only begun in 1980, when the most beautiful statues of Mary from all over the country were taken in procession through the streets of Intramuros In honor of the birthday of the Blessed Virgin Mother, thousands of devout Catholics join a grand procession in which more than 100 images and statues of the Blessed Virgin are paraded through the streets of Old Manila Where: Intramuros. The parade starts in front of the Manila Cathedral and finds its way inside the small streets of the walled city. Be there at around 5 pm. The parade last for several hours When: Every first Sunday of December.
