Buganihan Festival

Buganihan Festival is held in Compostela, Province of Compostela Valley. The festival is celebrated every 25th of July until the 1st of August. Its highlight is the colorful street parade. Bulawan Festival

With its vast gold deposits, Davao Region’s Compostela Valley has gained the title “Golden Province.”

But behind the minerals their mountains possess, the province is also home to different tribes practicing culture that share the same value as the bounty they hold.

To show gratitude to God who blessed them with such fortune, the province celebrates with its people through the Bulawan Festival. The festival, which is on its eighth year, is celebrated in the same week of its 20th Founding Anniversary on March 4-8.

Held in ComVal, Mabini every May 28. Dapugan is a common kagan and mansaka word which means gathering. The gathering celebrates the abundance of coastal resources of Mabini.

Reputations were at stake when horses paraded in this town dressed in their best costumes for the ninth Kahimunan Festival. Previous festivals had brought them center stage undressed as warriors ready to fight for their lives in bloody horse fights that officials decided to put a stop to.

It was a welcome change in reputation, however, as the town continued its tradition of honoring the animal that has given its farmers immeasurable help in their good harvests and for which the horse was bestowed the title “king of the road.” Horses again took center stage last Wednesday, but not as the fierce warriors previous fights turned them into. The Pasaka Festival pays tribute to the rich harvests of the municipality. The name of the festival was derived from the names of two Datus of the Mansaka and Muslim tribe who contributed much to the making of the municipality. Simballay Festival

Simballay is an annual festivity of the Municipality of Nabunturan coined from a Mansaka word meaning, “Togetherness, sharing and thanksgiving for a bountiful harvest.”

It came into existence in 1994 when Nabunturan was named as a Provincial Agri-Industrial Center in Region XI alongside with the municipalities in Tagum and Panabo which had now become cities except Nabunturan.
