Snake Island’s name was derived after its snake-shaped form of elongated sand bar. Snorkeling is a must do activity in the island, so make sure that you have the gears already before leaving the wharf. Another cool thing is feeding the fishes, extra bread or rice will already do. – Text from: http://www.mountainsnbeyond.com/2012/06/snake-island-honda-bay-palawan.html

This island is called Snake Island because of the snakelike stretch of sand on one side of the island. What I love about this island is the rich marine life that you can see with your very own eyes . In my opinion, it’s the best place to see different fishes. On Luli Island, it’s more on coral formations. You don’t have to swim very far to be able to see the marine life here. There were several varieties of fish here. If only I have an underwater camera then I could show you how beautiful it is down there! All you’ll need is snorkelling gear and a life vest. If you have your own snorkeling gear then try to bring them to avoid paying 100 pesos rental fee and it’s more hygienic. The beach here is.. “biglang lalim” gets? It tends to get really deep when you walk a few meters further. Text from: http://biancatalks.tumblr.com/post/31469508152#.WC-04SSkxlM

Concealed in one corner of Bacuit Bay is Snake Island, so-called not because of anything snake-related, but because of a naturally S-shaped sandbar that snakes across the water to it. Locals have another name for it, Vigan Island, but tourists usually call it by its hissy nickname. The sandpit is made of fine white sand and connects the island to mainland Palawan.
Snake Island is one of the more popular beach destinations in El Nido and is what many look forward to the most about.
Material/Type: Sandbar
Nearest Airport: El Nido and Puerto Princesa, both in Palawan
How to get there: From Manila, fly to Puerto Princesa. To get to El Nido, take a Roro bus to El Nido (P380, 6-7 hours). Vans are also available. From El Nido Poblacion, take TOUR B, which makes a stop at Snake Island (P1300/person).
Where to stay: Most tourists pick a resort or hotel in El Nido Town Proper and just join Island Tour B to visit this sandbar. You’ll find a list of accommodations at ElNidoPalawan.com.ph.
