The Gasang-Gasang Festival celebrates the origins of the name “Gasan”. Sponsored by the Gasan Culture and Arts Foundation (GASCUAF)with a certain contributions from 25 Barangays coming from their Barangay Budget, and held after the Moriones Festival, the festival features a live dance competition where several barangays have competed in the competition held in downtown Gasan. Later, the festival was held instead at the open-air tiangge area of Barangay Libtangin due to objections from the mayor over the festival being held downtown. A street dancing festival in Gasan town similarly inspired by the Moriones and the Sinakulo, passion plays. Accompanied by the beat of festival drums, contingents from the different barangays compete for the best in costume and choreography. GASANG GASANG FESTIVAL

“GASANG-GASANG EASTER FESTIVAL” in Gasan stole the thunder the whole day of Easter in Marinduque. All of Marinduque trooped to town’s Guingona Park to witness the six-year old festival. The mammoth crowd that came drove the mayor to quip: “This huge crowd is a clear expression that the Gasenos and the many visitors who have come want this festival to continue!”
The festival is a mix of ‘Sinulog’ inspired street dancing and ‘Moriones’ where participants in ‘samaritana’ costumes and ‘moriones’ costumes dance in jubilation as they shout “Viva El Kristo!” for the Risen Christ.
