On the balcony of a Marine battalion headquarters in Camp Bud Datu – the Hill of Rulers – you would see Jolo below, tranquil and sometimes misty, deceptively hiding the violence that has racked the island for decades.
This is what makes Bud Datu special, a hilltop base just outside the small capital of Sulu province, which has seen the constant turnover of military posts as a strategic location. Siit Lake

The Heart-shaped Lake most commonly known as the Siit Lake is a naturally inspired lake with a shape of a heart symbol. This lake is located in a densely population of about a thousand people per km2 in Region 9, the province of Sulu with an average elevation of 33 meters above sea level.
Accordingly, the lake is geographically located at the coordinates of 5° 59′ 0″ North, 121° 13′ 0″ East. Local folks tells that the original name of this lake of romance is Si”it Lake with Diacritic sign (A glyph added to a letter or a basic glyph). The Capitol Building of Sulu is a truly admirable Islamic architecture. It’s prominent dome in a verdant landscape made me think of India’s Taj Mahal. I could not almost believe there is such a wonderful structure in that part of the map.
