HAVING A FUN TIME IN LEYTE

There are many enjoyable activities to choose from when you are in Leyte. These activities range from simple volleyball games on the beach, to a more adventurous deep sea diving and other challenging activities. They provide endless fun for daring individuals and enjoyment even for the whole family. Below is a list of possibilities, but there can be much more for everyone’s choice.

Birdwatching

Anyway, enough said above and the good news is there are some birds left (clinging on?) around Lake Danao so let’s go to my sightings of last Sunday. I even got 2 species that had eluded me on each of my 7 previous visits. I must admit that birding in the open conditions rather than extremely dense forest was quite easy so it doesn’t surprise me too much I found a couple new ones for my site list. A naked-faced Spiderhunter showed nicely on top of a dead tree at a spot where it was previously impossible to see the sky overhead because of the closed canopy. Also a Pinsker’s Hawk Eagle was my first sighting for the area. It was a juvenile I could not possibly have overlooked when it was showing its mostly white body high up in a left over forest giant that barely featured any cover from smaller branches and leaves. I was surprised to still find Philippine Trogon as they do require good forest. I found a nice male in a little gully that was still a bit greener than the surroundings however the Trogon used perches no higher than 2 meters off ground which in normal condition forest would be unusual.  Read More: http://www.birding2asia.com/TripReports/LakeDanaoBirdingPostTyphoon.html

River Bathing

Sorry for stating the obvious, but after almost an hour of getting to this place would make a refreshing dip in the fresh waters so worth it. Just a pick a spot from the many natural swimming pools created by nature. You can choose from a variety of swimming spots based on your preference.

There are also shallow areas ahead that are just right for little kids cordoned with rocks for safety. Still please don’t keep your eyes off your kids and don’t let them swim unattended.  Read More: http://www.juandotgotaway.com/didang-river/

Torpedo Boat Adventure

The Torpedo Boat Adventure will take you downstream over a distance of 10.5 kilometers that cuts through more that 10 rapids.

Upon reaching Deni Point where everyone gets off to have a break or have snacks or lunch, most would go swimming and even jump into the ravaging waters.

And just when you think the excitement is over, you get on back on the torpedo boat for your ride back to the jump off point, don’t be fooled because now is the time for the ride you will never forget. The Torpedo boat will take you back through the 10.5 kilometers river, but this time it will be an upstream ride.  Read More:  http://packages.asiatravel.com/packagebooking/package.search.aspx?lan=en-US&pid=506927
